Discovering the Politically Incorrect Humor of Standup Comedienne Leonarda Jonie

Humor and laughter have always been a significant part of life. But as pessimistic as this may sound, I have a feeling that the hourglass may be running out for humor. I doubt that many jokes are told in Gaza these days, and if the devil has his way, much of the world may end up like Gaza. So perhaps—while not neglecting more serious matters—we should periodically laugh while we can.

Within conservative and alt-media circles, memes seem to have largely replaced comedy as the main means of laughter. I tried my hand at “politically incorrect” standup comedy just once, at a John Birch Society dinner event 15 years ago. (It can still be viewed here.)

Such approaches to real-world issues being a rarity, I was delighted to recently discover Texas comedienne Leonarda Jonie, who does politically incorrect “conspiracy theory” standup for a living. To me, she’s a female George Carlin.

Many of my readers probably already know Leonarda, but I didn’t. There are so many personalities in alt media, it’s hard to keep track of them all.

I’m in the middle of writing a post about Trump’s appointments, but as his administration is still taking shape, I thought I’d break off, as I sometimes do, for something less serious.

I hope Leonarda won’t mind; I’ve embedded four short clips from her YouTube channel to acquaint my readers with her work. I’m now following her Twitter feed  and you can see her platforms and upcoming engagements at https://linktr.ee/leonarda.jonie.

WARNING: SOME OF THIS COMEDY IS RAUNCHY; THERE ARE SOME “SWEARS.” AND I REALIZE, OF COURSE, THAT NOT EVERYONE AGREES ABOUT WHAT’S FUNNY AND WHAT’S NOT.

Ethnic humor. When I was a boy in the 1960s, my parents gave me a large book of jokes as a present. It included a section of ethnic jokes, subdivided by ethnicity, and no groups were spared—Irish, blacks, Italians, Jews, Poles, Scots, etc., etc. In those days, no one seem to care or get offended. The book was issued by a mainstream publisher. Including the next clip may get me unfollowed by some, but as most of my readers know, I’m half-Jewish myself and have written extensively on (against) Zionism.

By the way, humor is for my readers, NOT for me. This is because my wife and I enjoy a perfect marriage, with no need for comic relief. As proof, here’s a video snippet of me and my wife having a typical daily conversation about our happy, idyllic home. I’m sure everyone would agree that our storybook relationship is like something straight out of Father Knows Best and The Waltons:
