An Overlooked Bible Controversy—Septuagint vs Masoretic Text

More than 20 years ago, long before I embraced Eastern Orthodoxy, I was regularly attending a men’s Bible Study at a church in Winchester, Mass. After a while, something began bothering me. Jesus and His Apostles frequently quoted the Old Testament. However, when I turned to the Old Testament passage alluded to, it usually said something different—not radically different, but different nonetheless. I asked my group if they knew why.

One of the men, better schooled in the Bible’s history than I, said: “Well, that’s because there are two versions of the Old Testament—the Septuagint and the Masoretic Text. Jesus and the Apostles were quoting the Septuagint. But our Bible uses the Masoretic Text.”

“Oh, OK,” I said. I didn’t give it further thought at the time.

The story of the Septuagint’s origin was described by the Christian apologist Saint Justin Martyr (100-165 AD):

Ptolemy, king of Egypt [ruled 285 to 246 BC], when he had built the library in Alexandria, and by gathering books from every quarter had filled it, then learnt that very ancient histories written in Hebrew happened to be carefully preserved; and wishing to know their contents, he sent for seventy wise men from Jerusalem, who were acquainted with both the Greek and Hebrew language, and appointed them to translate the books [of Moses into Greek]; and that in freedom from all disturbance they might the more speedily complete the translation, he ordered … those officers who were appointed to this duty, to afford them all attendance, but to prevent communication with one another, in order that the accuracy of the translation might be discernible even by their agreement. And when he ascertained that the seventy men had not only given the same meaning, but had employed the same words, and had failed in agreement with one another not even to the extent of one word; but had written the same things, and concerning the same things, he was struck with amazement, and believed that the translation had been written by divine power, and perceived that the men were worthy of all honor, as beloved of God; and with many gifts ordered them to return to their own country. And having, as was natural, marveled at the books, and concluded them to be divine, he consecrated them in that library.1

The pristine copies that Ptolemy had ordered became the foundation for the translation of the entire Old Testament into Greek; the Septuagint was completed in the second century BC, and it was these manuscripts that Jesus and the Apostles quoted when referring to the Old Testament.

The Septuagint is still available today, but as we will see in Patrick O’Carroll’s article, most Bibles reject it in favor of the rabbi-written Masoretic translation, which was not completed until nearly a thousand years after Christ. Even the venerated King James Version uses the Masoretic Text (MT), despite many alterations it made to the Septuagint—especially eliminating books and passages prophesying the coming of Christ.

We must ask why, if the Septuagint was good enough for Jesus and the Apostles, it isn’t good enough for us.

In his book Rebooting the Bible (Part 1 published in 2019, and Part 2 in 2021), Douglas Woodward exposes a conspiracy of the “holy” rabbis, by which the words of the Old Testament were altered and corrupted in hopes of stopping, or slowing down, the massive conversion of ancient Judeans to Christianity that was taking place at the time, especially until about 250 AD. Overall, this rabbinical conspiracy to corrupt the Old Testament lasted from circa 136 AD, the end of the Bar Kokhba Revolt, until 1008 AD, when the Masoretic Leningrad Codex was completed.

The changes were designed to obscure the Old Testament’s Messianic prophecies, so as to conceal passages that proclaimed that Jesus is indeed the Messiah for the whole world; the “holy” rabbis most especially wanted to censor that.

Unfortunately, all Reformation Bibles got corrupted more than any other Bibles because they based their OT on the untrustworthy Masoretic Text (MT).

The Single Biggest Whopper in the Masoretic Text (MT)

Although the Old Testament does not explicitly state a 6,000-year timeline for the arrival of the Messiah, the Ancient Judeans did have an unofficial tradition whereby the Messiah would arrive around the year 6000 (meaning 6,000 years after Creation). They were basing this loosely on an analogy whereby the seven days of Creation corresponded to the first seven millennia, and whereby the seventh millennium was analogous to a “Messianic Age of Rest.” In the event, Jesus did indeed arrive around 5,500 years after Creation and, thus, He did indeed fulfill this Ancient Judean tradition by arriving just inside that unofficial 6,000-year timeline.

So, in order to better conceal this awkward fact, the “holy” rabbis were very keen to falsify the date of Creation. They figured that such a falsification would serve to dissuade more Ancient Judeans from converting to Christianity, which they were already doing in large numbers after the failed Bar Kokhba Revolt of 132-136 AD. The main upshot was that the rabbis literally deleted 1,500 years from the Old Testament’s chronology so as to make it falsely appear as if Jesus had arrived “too early.” This chronological defilement went on to become the Single Biggest Whopper that the rabbis deployed to corrupt the Masoretic Text (MT).

Woodward shows how the Alexandrian Septuagint (the real gold-standard Old Testament) was translated around 285 BC from the canon of texts assembled by the prophet Ezra in circa 400 BC. The Septuagint has greater accuracy in rendering those original Hebrew manuscripts than does the Reformation’s Masoretic Text. Because the Septuagint came into being long before Jesus arrived, no serious motive yet existed for falsifying it.

The genuine gold-standard Septuagint forms the basis for all Orthodox Bibles and many Catholic Bibles, which are more accurate and reliable in terms of the Old Testament than are Reformation Bibles.

How and Why the Septuagint Got Passed Over

Until 1054, most of Western Christendom viewed the Latin Vulgate as “the correct Bible.” It was completed around 398 AD under the direction of Saint Jerome as its principal translator, who translated the Latin Vulgate mainly from Hebrew to Latin while also referring to the Septuagint. However, as his starting-point, Saint Jerome used the Proto-Masoretic Texts originally translated from around 135 AD onward. Although these Proto-Masoretic Texts were corrupt, they were nowhere near as distorted as the final Masoretic Text of 1008 AD. This resulted in differences between the Latin Vulgate’s OT and the Septuagint; although the Latin Vulgate’s OT is less corrupt than the OT of Reformation Bibles. since the Proto-Masoretic Texts were less rabbi-contaminated than the MT.

In 1054-1517, Western Catholicism mistrusted the Septuagint and frowned upon it as “the Old Testament of the Eastern Church” (Greek, Armenian, Russian Orthodox etc.). But the Roman Pontiffs never imposed the Latin Vulgate on the Eastern Church; and that is why the Old Testament of all major Eastern Bibles has always been based on the Septuagint (LXX), and also why, among all Bibles, the Eastern Orthodox Bibles have always been the most accurate and the closest to the truth.

By the early 1500s, reformers such as Martin Luther (a Catholic) and John Calvin (real name Cohen) had an irrational mistrust of Orthodoxy’s gold-standard Greek Septuagint, even going as far as to regard it as “THE ENEMY.”

But the main reason why Luther and Calvin unwisely chose the corrupt MT over the Septuagint is because both of them were under the influence of the “holy” rabbis of the 1500s. It remains an inconvenient fact that the rabbis exercised a powerful influence over the entire Reformation. The leading reformers were being lobbied by rabbis pushing the MT because, after all, these rabbis’ forerunners had invested several centuries, as well as a lot of money, effort, and energy, into corrupting the MT in the first place.

James VI & I was so-called because he became James VI of Scotland in 1567 but later became James I of England in 1603. But, when he became English monarch James I, he followed Luther and Calvin by also unwisely choosing the corrupt MT over the Septuagint as the basis for his faulty KJV Bible’s version of the Old Testament. Luther, Calvin, and James VI & I all opted for the MT under the influence of powerful rabbis of their era.

Overall, the corrupt Masoretic Text is mostly an issue for Reformation Bibles. It was never an issue for the very fortunate members of Orthodoxy.

Many Catholic Bibles base their Old Testament on the Latin Vulgate, but that is much less corrupt than the MT. Long after Saint Jerome’s Latin Vulgate, the Douay-Rheims OT arrived in 1609-10 with the improvement that more of its translations were based on the Septuagint. However, Catholic Bibles later took a wrong turn when the spirit of ecumenism arrived after the disastrous Vatican II Council, and when some new Catholic Bibles began to unwisely opt for the corrupt MT as the basis for their Old Testament. These include the New American Bible (NAB, 1970) and the New Jerusalem Bible (NJB, 1985).

The best Catholic Bibles are of course those that base their OT on the Septuagint. These include the RSVCE (Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition of 1952) and the NRSVCE (New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition of 1989).

Reformation members should consider abandoning the faulty KJV Old Testament since it is based on the corrupt MT. The best Septuagint-based OT versions include the Lexham English Septuagint (LES, 2012, and LES2, 2019) and the Septuagint Version of the Old Testament (1844, by Lancelot CL Brenton). Another wise option would be to use the Orthodox Study Bible (OSB, 2008) as a reference.

At the same time, the preoccupation of Reformation sects with Scripture was never matched by either Catholicism or Orthodoxy because their primary focus has always been a combination of Sacraments and Tradition. Popes, Patriarchs, Bishops, and Metropolitans traditionally interpreted Sacred Scripture centrally, and instructed the faithful what to focus upon, and also what to disregard in cases of ambiguity or contradiction.

Creation of the Septuagint (the Real OT Gold-Standard)

The Septuagint (LXX) is sometimes referred to as the Greek Septuagint or as the Alexandrian Septuagint. Ptolemy II Philadelphus was the son of one of Alexander the Great’s generals, and, in circa 285 BC in Alexandria, he commissioned 72 translators (abbreviated to seventy or LXX) to translate Ezra’s Canon from Hebrew to Greek. The New Testament always quotes directly from this Septuagint, which is why the two line up together so closely. Woodward quantifies that about 90 percent of about 300 New Testament texts citing the Old Testament are in fact quoting the Septuagint and are thus also inconsistent with the corrupted Masoretic Text.

Creation of the Corrupted Masoretic Text

Originally, the “holy” rabbi Akiva ben Joseph (or simply Akiva, who died in 135 AD) commissioned the translation of Ezra’s Canon from Hebrew to Greek. This gave rise to what is called the Proto-Masoretic Texts, which are much less corrupt than the MT. Later, the MT was created in 550-1008 with a veritable avalanche of rabbinical adulterations. It was completed when Palestine was under the Islamic rule of the Abbasid Caliphate. The oldest complete Masoretic codices are the Cairo Codex (895 AD); Aleppo Codex (900s); and the Leningrad Codex (1008 AD). But, in the New Testament, when Jesus or the Apostles cite the Old Testament, they are citing the Septuagint since that was the standard version of their time.

But the MT is post-Christian, anti-traditional, highly Judaized, and vastly propagandized with the motive of hiding the fact that Jesus is the Messiah for the world. It was created in an environment that was more Islamic than Apostolic. It was also more Judaic than Christian. To base either the Bible or Christian doctrine on the MT is to adopt a post-Christian, Judaic, anti-traditional filter that is foreign to Christ and His Church. 

Key Differences between the Septuagint and the Corrupted Masoretic Text

  1. The total number of books in a complete version of the Septuagint is often cited as roughly 46 books for the Old Testament canon. That corresponds to the Catholic and Orthodox traditions, but some versions and canons have even more, such as those that include 3 Maccabees, 4 Maccabees, Psalm 151, the Psalms of Solomon, 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras, the Letter of Jeremiah, the Prayer of Manasseh, etc. Indeed, modern editions of the Septuagint (such as Alfred Rahlfs’ edition) have closer to 50-52 books, and that more exhaustive canon is listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Septuagint#Textual_history. However, many critics assert that there were as many as 62 books in the original Septuagint. In truth, it is today certain that no one has the complete original canon of the Septuagint, which means that some books quoted by the Early Christians (both Hebrew and Greek versions) still remain lost to this day. One motive the Masoretes and their rabbi bosses had for hiding or deleting books from the original canon of the Septuagint was damage-control, i.e. to censor any mention they made of crimes that had been committed by rabbis, elders, rulers, judges etc. For one thing, they wanted to censor any hint that they had been responsible for the murders of God’s prophets such as Zechariah.
  2. The Masoretes invented the personal name “YHVH” for God, but in Exodus 3:14 God indicated that He did not want a personal name when He told Moses, “I AM THAT I AM.” Still today, members of Reformation sects often call God “Jehovah,” “Yahweh,” “Tetragrammaton,” etc., but the Septuagint has no personal name for Him. Furthermore, in the NT, Jesus and the Apostles never refer to God the Father as “YHVH,” or “Jehovah,” etc. It was the Masoretes who first invented this title “YHVH” in 550-1008 AD. In his 1929 book “Magick in Theory and Practice,” British Satanist Aleister Crowley stated: “Let the magician earnestly seek this Lost Word YHVH for its pronunciation is synonymous with the accomplishment of the Great Work.” (Note: All Kabbalists define their “Great Work” as man becoming “god,” also called Apotheosis). Overall, the idea that God the Father has a proper first name is a Kabbalistic doctrine, not a Christian one. So we need to ask whether the Masoretes or their rabbi bosses were in fact proto-Kabbalists whose real goal was to corrupt the Masoretic Text as part of a Kabbalistic conspiracy. Separately, the black-magic Kabbalah teaches that God has a “magickal” codename YHVH (called “Shem HaMephorash”) that hides 72 additional names which can be “hacked” by Kabbalists to “control” God and use His power for their will. This is discussed on pages 20-21 here: http://u.pc.cd/aU9rtalK. Overall, more research would be required to resolve this whole question regarding YHVH.
  3. The Septuagint version of Exodus 3:14 states simply, “And God spoke to Moses, saying, I am THE BEING; and He said, thus shall you say to the children of Israel, THE BEING has sent me to you.” Hence, in the LXX, Almighty God actually identifies Himself to Moses as “THE BEING,” but the Masoretic Text renders God’s salutation in a slightly more cryptic or awkward fashion as, “I AM THAT I AM.” But overall, calling Almighty God by His Septuagint title “THE BEING” would appear to be much less controversial than calling Him “YHVH,” “Jehovah,” “Yahweh,” etc.
  4. In the MT, the “holy” rabbis inserted 12 new verses at the end of Jeremiah chapter 33 (which is chapter 40 in the LXX), so that the forged MT version of Jeremiah 33:14-26 contains a wholly invented “prophecy” that is central to the concept of Israel’s “future restoration.” We already knew that the Masoretes were master-forgers, but this particular addendum actually implicates them as the world’s first proto-Zionists! The rabbis did not accept Christ’s accurate prophecies that the pre-Christian Israel was gone forever. So, they invented their own fake “prophecy” that bogusly foretold “a return to the old days and the old ways.” This insertion of a wholly-invented “prophecy” into the MT’s Book of Jeremiah constitutes one of the wickedest corruptions contained in the entire Masoretic Text.
  5. The Masoretes deleted the following two underlined phrases from Deuteronomy 32:43, “Rejoice, ye heavens, with Him and let all the angels of God worship Him; rejoice ye Gentiles, with His people and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in Him; for He will avenge the blood of His sons …” The obvious reason for this blackout is because the “holy” rabbis wanted to censor the fact that Jesus is above the angels, and also to censor that Jesus came to save all peoples, not just the Judeans. The KJV mimics this Masoretic redaction of the underlined phrases in Deuteronomy 32:43 by stating very briefly, “Rejoice, O ye nations, with His people: for He will avenge the blood of His servants …”
  6. The NT’s Acts 7:42-43 cites the Septuagint version of the OT’s Amos 5:25-27. Both condemn the Judeans thus: “Ye took up the tabernacle of Molech and the star of your god Remphan.” But the “holy” rabbis ordered the Masoretes to change this to “the star of your god Chiun.” It is unclear why they corrupted this name, but it is certain that the “Star of Remphan” refers to the star of the Judaic child-sacrifice deity Remphan that is today displayed on the flag of the Antichrist State of Israel, but the rabbis and the Zionist House of Rothschild started falsely re-branding this star as “Star of David” in the era around 1870, when they were also launching political Zionism. Needless to say, the Septuagint version (“Remphan”) is correct, whereas the Masoretic corruption (“Chiun”) is incorrect and may well have been designed at the very least to cause confusion.
  7. The Septuagint has the Book of Wisdom (still in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles but not in Reformation ones). Wisdom 8:10-11 prophesies the Finding of Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52): “Because of [Wisdom], I shall have glory among the multitudes and honor in the presence of the elders. I shall be found keen in judgment, and in the sight of the rulers I shall be admired.” The “holy” rabbis viewed Jesus as an “upstart,” so they censored this by throwing out the entire book.
  8. The Septuagint has the Book of Sirach (still in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles but not in Reformation ones). Sirach contains teachings that are echoed in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. So, for similar reasons, the “holy” rabbis again ordered the Masoretes to throw out this entire book.
  9. The Book of Esther stands out as the one book in Reformation Bibles that never mentions God. That is because the MT is missing portions that are contained in the Greek Septuagint (LXX), including six substantial sections (over 100 verses) found in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, which include prayers, directly mention God, add details about Judean piety, and which clarify Esther’s devotion.
  10. The Masoretic version of Genesis 11 erases a whopping 880 years from the genealogical timeline by citing much younger fathers than do the Septuagint version of Genesis 11 or the Samaritan Pentateuch version of Genesis 11.
  11. The Masoretic version of Genesis 5 has approximately 600 fewer years in its chronology compared to the Greek Septuagint (LXX).
  12. Isaiah 61:1 mentions recovering the sight of the blind in the Septuagint version, but not in the MT. Luke 4:18 cites the Septuagint version of Isaiah 61:1, stating “to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind.” However, the Masoretic version of Isaiah 61:1 makes no mention of the blind because the rabbis wanted to hide, or play down, the fact that Jesus had divine authority to perform miracles.
  13. The Masoretic version of Psalm 22:20 is different from the Septuagint version. Here, the Septuagint states “my only begotten one,” but the corrupted MT states “my only life.”
  14. The Septuagint has the Book of Susanna (still in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles as part of the Book of Daniel, but wholly absent from Reformation ones). But the rabbis ditched the entire Book of Susanna from the MT in order to conceal the fact that it brought shame on Judea’s elders over rape.
  15. The Septuagint version of Isaiah 42:4 states, “and in His name shall the Gentiles trust” but the Masoretic version says, “and the isles shall wait for His law.” That is because the supremacist rabbis wanted the Messiah to be for the Judeans only. It is well known that they wanted a Military Messiah to help them conquer the world for what they perceived to be their “super-race,” so, in their vision, the Messiah was not to come to save any lowly Gentiles.
  16. In the NT, Hebrews 10:5-6 references the Septuagint version of Psalm 40:7 (which is Psalm 40:6 in the Masoretic Text), by stating, “Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure …’ But, to censor the fact that Jesus is the Messiah, the “holy” rabbis altered the Masoretic version of the Psalm by deleting the reference to the human body (of the Messiah) being prepared for sacrifice, so that it instead reads: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire; My ears You have opened. Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require.” Thus, the Masoretes replaced the reference to the Messiah’s human body in the Septuagint’s Psalm 40:7 (MT 40:6) with the fairly meaningless digression “My ears You have opened.” At the same time, it is puzzling why the Masoretes did not redact the confirmation given by the Psalm that God does not approve of animal sacrifice (“burnt offerings”) given that the official Judean tradition was animal sacrifice.
  17. The NT’s Acts 15:17 quotes the Septuagint version of the OT’s Amos 9:12, stating, “… so that the remnant of men, and all the Gentiles, upon whom My name is called, may earnestly seek Me.” But the “holy” rabbis corrupted Amos 9:12 to instead state: “… so that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathens who are called by My name …” Here, it seems clear that the anti-Gentile rabbis made this change in order to denigrate all Gentiles as heathens.
  18. The NT’s Romans 10:20 cites the Septuagint version of the OT’s Isaiah 65:2. Here, the Masoretes altered the text slightly. But, Romans 10:20 corresponds more closely to the Septuagint version than to the Masoretic version.
  19. The Septuagint version of Isaiah 51:5 states “… and on my arm shall the Gentiles trust …” but, in the MT, the Masoretes changed this to “… and my arms shall judge the people …” Again, the rabbis ordered this because they wanted a Military Messiah to Whom they would assign the task of leading what they viewed as their own Judean “super-race” and then subjugating the lowly Gentiles.
  20. The Septuagint version of Job 2:9-15 contains 171 words, But, in the MT, the Masoretes “optimized out” roughly 90 percent of the original, leaving just 18 words that still make quite a cryptic impact, i.e.: “Then his wife said to him, ‘Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!’ …” Here, it is still unknown why roughly 90 percent of the original Septuagint version ended up on the cutting-room floor.
  21. The Masoretic version of Psalm 110:4 is different from the Septuagint version because the rabbis wanted to cast doubt on Jesus being an “eternal priest” in the spirit of Melchizedek (not of Aaron).

Psalm 110:4 Masoretic version:
“The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Psalm 110:4 Septuagint version:
The Lord has sworn and will not repent: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

  1. The Psalms are numbered differently in the Septuagint and Masoretic versions. Thus, for instance, the Masoretic Psalm 23 (“The Lord is my Shepherd”) is Psalm 22 in the Septuagint, and in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles.
  2. The Masoretic Text (MT) deleted Psalm 151 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psalm_151).
  3. The Masoretic version of Exodus 12:40 says the Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt (only), whereas the Septuagint version of Exodus 12:40 says they spent 430 years in Egypt and Canaan.   4. In Part 1, Chapter 4, Woodward provides 27 examples of Masoretic corruptions, with each case proving the Septuagint (LXX) to be the gold standard. He concludes: “The Septuagint text is the text that the Church has preserved … When it comes to getting it right, the Septuagint should be regarded as the most authentic and trustworthy Old Testament in virtually all situations.” Overall, the “holy” rabbis rigged the MT to imply that Jesus of Nazareth was not the Messiah, but was instead just an ordinary man Who was not even a High Priest.

Key Contemporary Eyewitnesses Back Then

In his book “Dialogue with Trypho” (155-160 AD, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dialogue_with_Trypho), Saint Justin Martyr wrote about his talks with Judean Trypho while touring Middle-East synagogues. He kept noticing how the “holy” rabbis of that era had begun changing the text of the Septuagint so that it would stop complying with the New Testament. Example:

In Isaiah 7:14, the Septuagint says that Jesus will be born of a virgin, but the rabbis falsified this to instead state “young woman.” This later fed into the corrupted MT. Saint Justin Martyr also pointed out other distortions from the original Scriptural prophecies of the genuine Septuagint. Overall, most rabbis of that age sought to censor the Old Testament to retain their power but especially to dupe Judeans into not converting to Christianity, which was the top trend of the day.

In those times too, most of Christendom was well aware that the “holy” rabbis were creating multiple forged versions of the Old Testament. That explains why, in 235 AD, Christian scholar Origen Adamantius of Alexandria warned: “When we notice such [differences], we immediately reject as false the copies in use in our Churches. [We] command the brotherhood to put away the sacred books currently used among them; [and we] coax and persuade the Jews to give us copies which will [certainly] be un-tampered with and free from forgery.”

Origen also referred to the rabbis as “the rulers of Sodom” (which was a reference to Isaiah 1:10).

Corruption of the OT in the First Two Centuries AD

By 136 AD, the successors of the New Testament’s evil Pharisees were simply calling themselves rabbis and were denouncing the Septuagint as “the [evil] Christian Bible.” They were also alarmed because many Judeans had converted, and were still converting in droves, to Christianity. In his 2008 book The Invention of the Jewish People, Professor Shlomo Sand of Tel Aviv University proved that most of the Biblical Judeans first converted to Christianity, but 90 percent of them later converted to Islam during centuries of occupation. Moreover, says Sand, the Palestinians of today are the direct descendants of the Biblical Judeans although the Zionists are exterminating them in Gaza, even as the Zionists themselves keep bogusly claiming to be those descendants, which they obviously are not. Today, the cross-section of Palestinians (the former Biblical Judeans) remains roughly 90 percent Islamic, 10 percent Christian.

(It remains an astonishing paradox that most modern Jews are not even Semitic and this was proven by recent Johns Hopkins studies which showed that 97.5 percent of Jewish people living in Israel today have absolutely no ancient Hebrew DNA. That means they are non-Semitic and that they have no ancient blood-ties whatsoever to the land of Palestine. In stark contrast, the same studies found that 80 percent of today’s Palestinians have ancient Hebrew DNA and are Semitic. These studies were led by Israeli biologist Dr Ariella Oppenheim (2001) and by Israeli geneticist Dr Eran Elhaik (2013, 2016).)

Genesis 12:1-3 warns that God will curse those who curse Abraham. If Zionists are correct in applying this verse to Abraham’s descendants, then it would mean that all Zionists, “Christian” Zionists, and ZioNazis are certainly cursed by God for committing, supporting, and financing the genocide of over 11 million Arab Semites (who are descendants of Abraham) in the Arab-Semitic Holocaust of 1948-2026, which is still continuing today in the Gaza Holocaust.]

Long before the Masoretes started working on their falsifications after 550, the “holy” rabbis (successors of the Pharisees) already began to massively fake the Old Testament as early as 135 AD (toward the end of the failed Bar Kokhba Revolt). The “holy” rabbi Akiva commissioned three of his students to retranslate the Old Testament from Hebrew to Greek. This trio produced what is known as the (also corrupt) Proto-Masoretic Text, which was later used by Saint Jerome as the basis for his Hebrew-to-Latin translation of the Latin Vulgate’s OT. These three were:

  1. Aquila of Sinope (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquila_of_Sinope).
  2. Symmachus (probably identical to the “holy” rabbi Symmachus ben Joseph, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symmachus_(translator)).
  3. Theodotion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodotion).

A Note on Maimonides

The “holy” rabbi Maimonides, who lived in the 1100s, was a Jewish supremacist and very likely a Satanist too. He was a highly prolific writer. But, disastrously, many reformers became his disciples and repurposed many of his texts. In his time, Maimonides added fourteen new books to the satanic Talmud called “Repeated Instruction” or “Mishneh Torah.” These fourteen books were the first to invent new Talmudic rules that attempted to massively govern the behavior of Gentiles, both Gentile individuals and entire Gentile nations. In Hilchot Avodah Zarah 9:4, Maimonides states that Christians are “idolaters” who must be decapitated because they believe in the Divinity of Jesus and the Holy Trinity. But Maimonides further decreed that all Gentiles must exclusively follow the Seven Noahide Laws, must refrain from studying Jewish Instruction, and must not rest on the Sabbath (since they are “utility animals” whose sole purpose in life is to toil for the Jews).

This incredible presumption on the part of Judaism, by which it still attempts to govern the behavior of members of a completely different faith, is much less unusual than it is positively preposterous. Of course, the ulterior motive for “regulating” Christians with bogus “laws” is to ultimately genocide them, which is openly confirmed by many “holy” rabbis today. The political equivalent of this might be a US president ordering the execution of all Chinese civilians under the pretext that they were allegedly refusing to comply with the US Constitution or Bill of Rights.

Unfortunately, very many reformers were influenced by Maimonides. They included John Selden; Baruch Spinoza; Jean Bodin; Johannes Reuchlin; Philipp Melanchthon; Martin Luther; James VI & I; Oliver Cromwell; Petrus Cunaeus; Hugo Grotius; and many more.

Thus, for instance, in order to mislabel all Catholics as “idolaters,” these reformers just reformulated much of the vitriol that Maimonides had in his writings already directed at all Christians. As their very name suggests, Protestants were protesting against Catholicism, so Maimonides’ torrents of hatred served the reformers as a welcome means to attack Catholics and Catholicism as “blasphemous” and “idolatrous.” But words soon became deeds, and the “holy” rabbis were the beneficiaries who were truly delighted when millions of Catholics and Protestants lay dead in the aftermath of Europe’s Reformation Wars. The rabbis had again demonstrated their great power in setting two sides against each other.

Launch of Bible Versions of the “Holy” Reformation

The Reformation was perniciously informed by many rabbis of the 1500s. In a vain attempt to invalidate Jesus as the World Messiah, they had cut 1,500 years from the MT, but the Septuagint retained the missing years. Most Reformation Bibles (notably the KJV Bible and the Luther Bible) regrettably based their Old Testament versions on the MT, but did this under the influence of the rabbis of the 1500s, who wanted the Reformation to split Christianity.

Of course, the Masoretic issue has always been a far greater problem for the reformers than it was for either Catholicism or Orthodoxy because Reformation sects always claimed to be Bible-based and text-based, although their Masoretic OT has always been out of line with their NT.

The Luther Rose (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_rose) shows that Martin Luther was a member of Rosicrucianism, which is a Kabbalist Sect. The Tudor Rose (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tudor_rose) is similar in style; and the court of “Judeo-Anglican” Elizabeth I was openly Rosicrucian, having as its members many Kabbalists such as John Dee. James VI & I was a Kabbalist Freemason and a demonologist. Luther, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James VI & I were all under heavy influence from the rabbis of their age. So, Luther and James VI & I foolishly opted for the MT.

Also, as Kabbalists, Martin Luther and James VI & I both insisted on adding an extra doxology to the Lord’s Prayer in order to reference three “Sephiroths” or emanations of the Kabbalah’s “Tree of Life”: Kingdom [10th], Power [5th], Glory [8th]. Other Bibles were influenced by this false rendering of Matthew 6:13, as shown here: https://biblehub.com/matthew/6-13.htm. However, Catholic and Orthodox Bibles avoid this Kabbalistic influence and are thus closer to the truth. The Reformation claimed never to alter the Bible, especially Jesus’ own words, but that is proven to have been a bogus claim.

One notable non-Masoretic issue in Reformation Bibles is that they are missing seven books compared to Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, i.e. 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Tobit, Judith, Sirach (Ecclesiasticus), Wisdom, and Baruch. Catholic Bibles contain 73 books, thus differing from Reformation Bibles which have 66 books. Luther threw out these seven books, labeling them “apocryphal” (or “deutero-canonical”), and thus altered the Bible. He censored these mainly because he wanted his New Tradition to “abolish” Purgatory and also to “abolish” prayers for the dead, two doctrines that are powerfully supported by most of these seven books. Anglicanism is theologically much closer to Catholicism but it ended up becoming the single most paradoxical of all the Reformation sects. Thus, although Anglicanism also “abolished” Purgatory, its KJV Bible did not delete Luther’s seven “apocryphal” books, most of which corroborated Purgatory, until 1825. This was despite the fact that 2 Maccabees 12:38-46 alludes to Purgatory, which Anglicanism had already “abolished.” A second major paradox in Anglicanism is that, although it “abolished” Purgatory, it has always, to this day, retained prayers for the dead. A third major paradox in Anglicanism is that it covertly adopted the “British Israel” Psychopathy, thus becoming what is more accurately called “Judeo-Anglicanism.” In all truth and fairness, Anglicanism was never really about religion, but was always much more about politics, looting, genocide, and ideology. Far from condemning the genocide of over 240 million victims by the British Empire (as shown here https://ibb.co/vxfHc2Xr) or the plunder of one-quarter of the world’s land and resources, “Judeo-Anglicanism” condoned and encouraged these things because it was at all times following the Talmud and not the New Testament. Already in the 1500s, “Judeo-Anglicanism” started off by helping to rob the Catholic Church’s property and every square inch of Ireland. The main hallmarks of the ideology of “Judeo-Anglicanism” were the “British Israel” Psychopathy (an unscientific “super-race dogma”) and Malthusianism, which was created and developed by “Judeo-Anglican” clergyman Thomas Robert Malthus. “Judeo-Anglicanism” was really the world’s first state religion, the “theological” mouthpiece of the English monarchy, and an integral part of the British Regime.

The Morphing of Reformation Bibles

Benjamin Blayney revised the KJV and created the so-called “1769 Oxford Edition.” But, Woodward says that this 1769 version contains a whopping 8,422 variants compared to the original KJV version of 1611. All Reformation Bibles based their Old Testament on a faulty Masoretic version from Daniel Bomberg’s “Masorah Parva,” edited by a rabbi called Jacob ben Chayyim, and published in Venice in 1524-25. Historian Webster Tarpley argued that, originally, it was the Venetians who had instigated the entire Reformation, mainly to mitigate what they perceived to be a German threat to Venice, by playing individual German states off against each other. The fact that Bomberg’s Masoretic book “Masorah Parva” had been published in Venice only supplied more “rocket fuel” to Tarpley to argue his Venetian theory. At the same time, many other historians have demonstrated that the Reformation was probably in fact much more a Jewish conspiracy than it ever was a Venetian one. Venice in the 1500s was indeed a major Jewish hub, so the possibility also exists that the Reformation was a conspiracy instigated by a combination of Jews and Venetians.

The Puritans preferred the Geneva Bible, whose OT was based on the corrupted Masoretic Text and which was translated by English refugees in Geneva. But Kabbalist James VI & I did not like the Geneva Bible because it used the word “tyrants” too many times to refer to what he viewed as “divinely-authorized” or “holy” monarchs. In those days, it was no laughing matter for translators to question the divine right of monarchs. This was demonstrated when the influential translator William Tyndale did just that in his Tyndale Bible. In 1536, Tyndale’s “audacity” prompted the “divinely authorized” Henry VIII to collaborate in his execution by strangulation and then burning for the alleged crime of heresy.

Recap of Inconvenient Facts about the Three Reformers Who Had by Far the Greatest Influence over Reformation Bibles:

  1. James VI & I was a Freemason, a Kabbalist, and a demonologist.
  2. Martin Luther was a member of the Kabbalist sect called Rosicrucianism.
  3. John Calvin (real name Jehan Cohen) was a Jew, as admitted by the Paris B’NAI B’RITH conference of 1935-36, with the same Jewish delegates also boasting that powerful Jews had also financed Luther. These facts were stated in the Feb 1936 issue of the London Catholic Gazette.

Unfortunately, the record really does indeed confirm that the “Holy” Reformation was a Jewish-rabbinical conspiracy to split Christianity.

In Germany, the original 1522 Luther Bible was not revised until 1912, as the “Second Official Church Revision.” With each revision and correction, the main Reformation sects copied each other’s errors and changes, and at all times continued to be informed by the rabbis of their era. In the twentieth century, the “Judeo-Anglicans” of Oxford University Press, and the Zionist House of Rothschild, evilly corrupted the Reformation sects, especially those of North America and Britain, with a form of Satanism called “Christian Zionism,” whose chief goal is to install the Antichrist in Jerusalem to rule the “new” world order, and whose leading-edge weapon is the Zionist Scofield Reference “Bible.”

The Biggest Timing Errors in the MT

  • Adam and Eve were in fact created in 5500 BC (not 4000 BC as stated by the MT).
  • The “holy” rabbis purged 1,500 years from the Old Testament chronology to hide the fact that Jesus really had fulfilled an Ancient Judean tradition whereby the “Messianic Age” would begin near the end of the sixth millennium after Creation, or near the start of the seventh one (the seventh being a “Messianic Age of Rest”).
  • The Great Flood took place 1,000 years before the MT says (circa 3360 BC instead of 2348 BC).
  • The Tower of Babel came 900 years earlier (circa 3100 BC instead of 2200 BC).
  • Nimrod’s father, and not Nimrod, led the rebellion at Babel.

All these issues in the MT, and hence in all Reformation Bibles, still need fixing.

Woodward refers to the Hebrew on which the MT is based as “the Corrupted Hebrew” because it was designed to hide the fact that Jesus did indeed fulfill the Old Testament prophecies and really is the Messiah. In other words, “the Corrupted Hebrew” was designed to dupe more Ancient Judeans into not converting to Christianity.

Woodward calls supporters of the KJV Bible today “KJV Fundamentalists” and calls his own group “Evangelicals.” He adds that, sadly, the “KJV Fundamentalists” are severely weakening the position of all Reformation sects.

Why Did Reformation Sects Never Repair the KJV’s OT with the Septuagint?

Although it never really made the headlines, one major upshot of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1946-56 was that they proved that the Septuagint was far more accurate than the corrupted MT.

The Dead Sea Scrolls made it indisputable that the faulty KJV’s Old Testament needed fixing. But this had already long been obvious, given that Lancelot CL Brenton had already published his “Septuagint Version of the Old Testament” in 1844, and given that experts had already gleaned that the KJV’s OT contained hundreds of rabbinical adulterations.

There were at least four powerful entities that apparently conspired to prevent the KJV from being altered in any way. All these following entities had strong motives:

  1. The Zionist House of Rothschild, which, already in the 1840s, was planning to launch both Political Zionism and “Christian Zionism.”
  2. The English monarchy, whose interests were practically indistinguishable from those of the Rothschilds after circa 1818-20.
  3. Anglicanism, which was not really a religion but rather a political ideology that was at all times following its orders from the English monarch as its titular head.
  4. British and World Freemasonry, whose four most revered books in the 33rd Degree at the time were: the KJV Bible; the Koran; the Bhagavad Gita along with the Four Vedas; and the Egyptian Book of the Dead (although, in the twentieth century, the fourth was replaced by the “Book of the Law” by British Satanist Aleister Crowley).

The two most important features of the Scofield Reference “Bible” are that it is intensely pro-Zionist and that it uses the KJV (essentially, it is just the KJV with pro-Zionist footnotes appended).

Thus, the whole motive for not altering a single verse of the KJV’s OT was that all four of these entities wanted to safeguard their political aims, which included their projects Proto-Zionism; “Christian Zionism” along with its precious pro-Zionist Scofield Reference “Bible”; and later full-blown Zionism which started to massively increase in political clout in the era from 1897 until 1948.

Also, the KJV’s forged MT version of Jeremiah 33:14-26 (a pro-Zionist “prophecy” that the Masoretes had completely invented) just happened to be wholly central to the concept of Israel’s “future restoration” and hence to the whole Zionist cause. The Zionists certainly did not want that touched, but they also found other aspects of the corrupted MT, and its distortion of the KJV’s OT, to be helpful and useful to their cause.

So, not only did these entities ensure that the KJV remained unaltered; they also censored or simply kept quiet the urgent requirement that the KJV needed correction. The censorship, minimization, and obfuscation of this crucial issue persisted for over 180 years since 1844 and involved very high-level officials in press, media, and publishers of books by officially-approved theologians. Woodward’s book was one of the first to exhaustively drill down into this highly-suppressed yet urgent topic, which still remains total anathema to the four powerful entities mentioned above, as well as to others.

Brief Summary of Jewish Influence over the “Holy” Reformation

The “holy” rabbis had a highly nefarious influence over the entire Reformation in the following ways:

  1. The Masoretic Text (MT) was created by a rabbinical conspiracy which corrupted the Old Testament of all Reformation Bibles, and still does to this day.
  2. The rabbis of the 1500s exercised undue influence over the leading reformers by pushing upon them the corrupt Masoretic Text.
  3. Influential rabbis, such as Maimonides of the 1100s, supplied anti-Christian “ammunition” to the reformers (citing what he regarded as “idolatry” and “blasphemy” among all Christians), which they repurposed and reworded to serve as anti-Catholic “ammunition.”
  4. Venice was a Jewish hotbed where Daniel Bomberg’s “Masorah Parva,” edited by a rabbi called Jacob ben Chayyim, was published in 1524-25. It later became the main source of the MT that still corrupts most Reformation Bibles.
  5. The translation of the KJV Bible was presided over by Freemasonic Kabbalist James VI & I.
  6. The translation of the Luther Bible was presided over by Rosicrucian Kabbalist Martin Luther.
  7. John Calvin (Jehan Cohen), founder of the Reformed Calvinist movement, was a Jew, as admitted by the Paris B’NAI B’RITH conference of 1935-36.
  8. Anglicanism covertly adopted the “British Israel” Psychopathy and thus became what is much more accurately referred to as “Judeo-Anglicanism.”
  9. In the twentieth century, all Reformation sects were further corrupted by “Christian Zionism” and by the Zionist Scofield Reference “Bible.”

Afterword by James Perloff

I appreciate the perspective of “King James Only” advocates, in their rightfully deploring the many alterations made by the NIV and other modern Bible translations. But I do not regard the KJV itself as infallible. Not only does it use the Masoretic version of the Old Testament, but as British author John Hamer has pointed out, the KJV was tied to Freemasonry, including the use of Freemasonic symbols right on its original printed pages.

As I have long been involved with the creation/intelligent design movement, I find the misdating of history by the MT especially significant. Nearly all creation scientists who are Christians rely on the Masoretic Text, and therefore believe that the Great Flood occurred around 2350 BC. I took this position myself. So when I saw something archaeologists dated “3000 BC,” I would say, “Oh, they must be wrong. That would be before the Flood.” For example, archaeologists date the first civilizations (Mesopotamia, rule of the pharaohs in Egypt) to approximately 3100 BC—impossible with the MT. But the Septuagint’s Flood date of 3360 BC completely changes the outlook, and harmonizes the Bible with archaeology. In this way, neither science nor the Bible encounter unwarranted disrespect.

However, there is an important point in Patrick’s article that must not be missed. It is not merely a contest between Septuagint vs Masoretic Text. There is also the problem of the Septuagint itself being altered by rabbis, as documented by the great Christian apologist Saint Justin Martyr (100-165 AD). Justin noted, for example:

And from the sayings of Jeremiah they have cut out the following: “I [was] like a lamb that is brought to the slaughter: they devised a device against me, saying, Come, let us lay on wood on His bread, and let us blot Him out from the land of the living; and His name shall no more be remembered.”2

Fortunately, this deletion was restored to Jeremiah 11:19.

Justin also found that in Deuteronomy 32:8, the rabbis changed “He set the bounds of the nations according to the number of God’s angels” to “He set the bounds of the nations according to the number of the children of Israel,”3 a mistranslation that carried over to the MT, although the Septuagint retains the original wording.

Justin also reported:

And from the ninety-fifth (ninety-sixth) Psalm they have taken away this short saying of the words of David: “From the wood.” For when the passage said, ‘Tell ye among the nations, the Lord hath reigned from the wood,’ they have left, “Tell ye among the nations, the Lord hath reigned.”4

Thus the rabbis removed a prophetic reference to the crucifixion cross (wood). Regrettably, this error remains uncorrected in modern printings of both the Septuagint and the Masoretic Text.

To what extent did the rabbis of Justin’s day successfully alter the Septuagint? What other verses might have been changed? The best way to find out precisely what the Old Testament said would be to examine the 72 pristine copies that were held in the Library of Alexandria. I have to wonder if that is the true reason the library was destroyed by fire.
